| Buy your first home, or refinance your existing home? |
If you are planning to buy your first home, or refinance your existing home, you probably have many questions—including questions about which type of mortgage is right for you, and how to qualify for the best possible one.
The Responsible Homeownership (R-HOME) mortgage was specifically designed to give responsible homebuyers the opportunity to qualify for stable, affordable, fixed-rate prime mortgages. |

| What if you don't have a credit score? |
|
Some mortgage applicants don't have a credit score. Perhaps they have never used credit, paying for everything in cash or by writing a check. Or, they may have used credit, but their credit history is all in the name of a spouse, parent, or other family member.
Until recently, these applicants could not get a stable, affordable fixed-rate mortgage — even if they had always paid all their bills on time. Instead, sometimes they were approved only for a costlier, less stable mortgage. Sometimes, they were turned down flat, unable to buy a home at all. The Responsible Homeownership (R-HOME) initiative was designed to serve these borrowers. |
